Eden Shore Excursions
View Eden Shore ExcursionsWhat happens in the event of a vehicle breakdown?
In 5 years of operation, we have never had a vehicle breakdown or returned late to the port. We have multiple, robust contingency plans in place for your absolute peace of mind. We are in direct communication with the Port Authority of Eden and can contact the ship immediately if needed. Furthermore, on cruise ship days, we always have multiple vehicles and staff members working on the ground, meaning we can quickly re-allocate a vehicle or dispatch a backup to assist if an issue ever arose.
I’m worried the tour will return late and I'll miss the ship. How do you manage this?
We understand the anxiety around this issue and take it very seriously. All of our tour schedules are carefully structured around your specific ship’s arrival and departure times. We know that the ship’s “all-aboard” time is strictly 1 hour before departure, and our goal is always to have you back at the port a minimum of 1 hour before that all-aboard cut-off. While timing varies slightly depending on the tour, rest assured we are completely on top of it.
I am travelling with friends. Can we book a private tour?
Yes, absolutely! We would love to host your group. Please contact us directly to arrange a private group tour. Please note that private departures require a minimum of 4 guests (or a minimum of 6 guests if you are travelling on a Norwegian Cruise Line ship), or a minimum payment equivalent to those numbers.
I have specific dietary requirements. Can you cater for them?
Yes, we certainly can! We happily cater to a wide range of dietary needs, including gluten-free, vegetarian, vegan, and nut allergies. Please ensure you book directly with us and clearly note your dietary requirements on the booking form so our team can plan your catering accordingly.
What are the benefits of booking directly with you instead of Viator or GetYourGuide? Booking directly makes a massive difference!
When you book direct, we can communicate with you instantly, collect detailed information to customise your experience, and offer you the best possible price. Most importantly, 100% of your payment stays local—supporting our hard-working local guides and the regional charities we fund—rather than giving a massive cut to an international, multi-billion dollar corporation.
What happens if our cruise ship cancels the port stop or cannot dock due to bad weather?
We completely understand that cruise itineraries can change unexpectedly due to weather or sea conditions. If your ship is unable to dock at the Port of Eden, our guest cancellation policy for direct bookings is far more accommodating than large corporate booking platforms:
- Cancellations more than 48 hours prior to tour commencement will receive a 75% refund (subject to a standard 25% administration fee to cover processing costs).
- Cancellations less than 48 hours prior (including last-minute ship cancellations under 24 hours) are treated as a Type 2 cancellation. You will still receive a 50% refund to help us share the cost of pre-arranged local staff, transport logistics, and catering commitments that are already locked in.
Please Note the Direct Booking Advantage: If you choose to book our tours through third-party platforms like Viator or GetYourGuide, those international corporate systems enforce a strict 0% refund policy if a cancellation occurs within 24 hours of the tour start time—meaning you will lose your entire payment if the ship misses the port last minute. Booking directly with us guarantees you are protected by our fairer local policy and will still get half your money back.
Where can I find your full booking rules, and what are your terms and conditions?
We believe in full transparency before you travel. You can read our terms and conditions here.
One of the best tours we've experienced to date. Jess was our tour guide and is definitely 'top of class'. Lots of good information and no senseless yapping that we've experienced on other tours. We didn't feel rushed, and the sites were amazing. Well worth our time and money.
Light To Light Transfers
View Light To Light ToursHow much water do I need to bring?
Tank water is available at the campsites. You can resupply at the drop toilet locations at Morrawary and Hegarty’s campsites, as well as Saltwater (day 2) and Bittangabee Bay (day 3) campsites. NSW National Parks recommends boiling all water before use.
Can I drink water from the creeks?
While you will pass many flowing creeks, NSW National Parks recommends boiling or treating all water from tanks or creeks before drinking. (I didn’t treat the water from the tanks or creeks and I’m still alive BTW).
Do you have a suggested packing list?
Yes! Please see our What to Wear & Bring section here. Also see our detailed blog post: Light to Light Packing List.
What kinds of animals are we likely to come across on the trail?
You will likely see kangaroos, wallabies, wombats, and goannas. In warmer months, you may encounter snakes (Brown, Red-belly Black, Diamond Pythons) and ticks.
Is my car safe at Boyds Tower or Green Cape car park?
We have not had any issues with theft or break-ins. However, please be aware that parking is not secure, and there is no official surveillance.
What should our first aid kit contain for snake bites and ticks?
We strongly recommend carrying a snake bite bandage and knowing how to use it, as well as tick removal medication (like Lyclear or Tick-Off) tweezers and antibacterial wipes.
How much do I have to pay attention to the tides?
The main consideration is the Saltwater Creek crossing. It’s possible to cross in both high and low tides. In the event of a king high tide and large swell, reconsider the walk entirely, as you may need to avoid dangerous rock platforms and Saltwater Creek Crossing.
Do the camping platforms fit two hiking tents?
Yes, the platforms are large enough for two average-sized hiking tents. Leave your tent pegs at home and make sure to have the guide ropes or additional ropes for tying down your tent to the platforms.
Can you pick us up at the end of the hike?
Yes, we can. While most guests prefer the morning transfer (Green Cape to Boyds Tower) to walk back to their vehicle at their leisure, we can arrange an end-of-hike pickup. We require a minimum of 4 guests for a confirmed end-of-hike transfer.
BYO Loo Paper
Drop toilets at Morrawary and Hegarty’s can run out.
How often do you not meet the 4-guest minimum?
As this is our first year running transfers, we don’t have long-term data yet. We hit our 4-guest minimum every day during the Spring school holidays. Outside of peak times, we usually run 1–2 transfers per week, with Fridays being the most popular. If you are booked for <4 guests, we highly recommend booking with a long lead time or contacting us to see which dates already have other bookings.
I'm arriving in Eden via cruise ship. Can I still book a transfer?
Yes! Providing you meet the 4-guest minimum payment, we can collect you from the Port of Eden at a time that aligns with your cruise and drop you at the trail. We recommend hiking the Saltwater to Bittangabee Bay (9 km) section so you can finish with a swim. We will then return you directly to the port of Eden. We can also arrange a packed lunch and a guide—please contact us to finalise arrangements.
Where can I hire a Personal Locator Beacon (PLB)?
Yes. You can hire a PLB free of charge from Merimbula National Parks office.
Is it possible to complete the entire Light to Light as a day hike?
Absolutely. The entire trail can be done in a day, or you can opt for a shorter section. For a roughly 20 km walk, contact us to arrange a pickup from Bittangabee Bay. We can drop you at Boyds Tower around 10:30 AM, allowing you to walk back to your vehicle at Bittangabee Bay.
Why is the transfer so expensive?
To operate Light to Light transfers, we incur significant costs, including a $1000 annual fee to NSW Parks for exclusive rights, $11 -person fees, and mandatory Merimbula transfers, resulting in a minimum 5-hour staff time commitment per trip, in addition to our general eco-parks operator fees. Please read our Terms and Conditions before booking.
Do you have to pay for parking?
Yes, it is $8 per day. We recommend pre-booking online via the NSW National Parks website. If you pay on the day, you will need the exact change or to call the Merimbula NP office (which may be difficult due to limited phone reception).
Will I have mobile phone reception?
Telstra has reliable reception at Boyds Tower and Morrawary Beach campsite. Reception is patchy and unreliable elsewhere, particularly between Morrawary and Green Cape.
Where do you recommend staying pre or post-walk?
Many guests camp at Bittangabee Bay for a quick 15-minute drive to the Green Cape Lighthouse transfer point. Nearby options include Boyds Town, Eden (Heritage Accomodation, Eden Motel), and Merimbula (NRMA, Palms Apartments, Hillcrest).
When is the best time of year to walk?
There is no bad time! Spring (Sep-Nov): Best for whale migration and wildflowers. Autumn (Mar-May): Best overall with cooler days, warm ocean water, and calm weather. Winter (Jun-Aug): Fewer people on the trail, less chance of snakes/ticks, but transfers may be harder to book. Summer (Dec-Feb): Good for swimming, but be prepared for heat and less shade.
Why do most people walk from Boyds Tower to Green Cape (southbound)?
The trail is set up to match the camping platforms, with a first night at Morrawary and a second at Hegarty’s. Walking southbound also means you will have the sun at your back for most of the day.
Should I take the coastal or inland route between Bittangabee and Green Cape?
There are pros and cons for both routes: The inland route offers more shade, wildflowers, a flatter path, and avoids the 540 stairs on the coastal route. Want to walk the scenic coastal route on the last day? Stash your heavy packs at Bittangabee and carry only essentials for the final 8 km to Green Cape Lighthouse. After reaching your car, take the 6 km return detour to drive back and retrieve your bags.
Can I do this hike as a series of day walks?
Absolutely! We can provide transfers. You park your car at the end location each day, and we transfer you to the start. Contact us for a custom quote and schedule.
2 Days
Day 1 (14 km): Pick up from Saltwater Creek and transfer to Boyds Tower.
Day 2 (18 km): Pick up from Green Cape Lighthouse and transfer to Saltwater Creek.
3 Days
Day 1 (14 km): Pick up from Saltwater Creek and transfer to Boyds Tower.
Day 2 (9 km): Pick up from Bittangabee Bay and transfer to Saltwater Creek.
Day 3 (8 km): Pick up from Green Cape Lighthouse and transfer to Bittangabee Bay.
Do you ever book out?
No, but we appreciate as much notice as possible so we can arrange vehicles and staff. If a transfer is fully booked, we can usually add an earlier or later slot.
Why do you require a 4-guest minimum?
This minimum ensures we can cover essential operational costs: Driver/Guide Time: Approximately 5 hours for the full round-trip transfer. Mandatory Fees: NSW National Parks receives 10% of gross revenue. Licensing: We pay annual fees (approx. $1,640) for both NPWS and point-to-point transfer licenses.
Do you hire camping equipment?
No, but we may in the future if there is enough demand. Feel free to contact us if this is a service you would use.
Is this hike suitable for kids?
Definitely. The Light to Light is an excellent introductory multi-day hike for families (we’ve even taken an 11-month-old!). It is ideal because it features varied scenery, abundant wildlife, and multiple access points for safety.
Are there other Light to Light transfer services?
No. We operate under an exclusive commercial agreement with NSW National Parks. This license requires us to pay a significant annual fee and a 10% gross revenue contribution, which ensures we are the sole licensed provider.
Such a fantastic company for our transfers to do the Light to Light hike. Tailored the transfers to our needs so we could hike across 2 days and stay at our Hotel in between. Prompt and friendly! Highly recommend!
Light to Light Walk (Multi-Day Tour)
View Multi-Day ToursDo I need to bring my own hiking boots, or are trail sneakers okay?
Sturdy, worn-in hiking boots with good ankle support are highly recommended. While the Grade 4 track is beautifully upgraded, you will encounter sections of soft sand, loose gravel, rocky shelves, and steps. Make sure whatever footwear you choose is thoroughly broken in before the tour to avoid blisters.
What happens if I get too tired or injured to complete a day's walk?
The beauty of our pack-free guided structure is that our support vehicle meets the group at specific track access points throughout the itinerary. If you are feeling fatigued, experiencing joint pain, or simply want to sit a section out, you can safely transit in the support vehicle with our crew and meet up with the group at the next stop or back at the villas.
Can I wash or dry my wet hiking gear at the end of the day?
Yes. Coastal weather can bring unexpected dampness or sea spray. The Seahorse Inn features guest washing and drying facilities, allowing you to easily wash and dry your active layers, socks, or undergarments in the evening so you start the next morning fresh and dry.
Will we still walk if it is raining?
Yes, the tour operates in light to moderate rain, and the coastal forests look spectacular in the mist! We provide premium full-body rain gear (coats and pants) if you don’t have your own. However, if extreme or dangerous weather is forecast by the Bureau of Meteorology (such as park closures or dangerous swells), we will modify, reschedual or cancel the activity.
Is single-room occupancy available if I am travelling alone?
Our standard tour price ($1,995 AUD) is based on twin-share or double-share occupancy in our premium multi-bedroom villas. If you are a solo traveller and prefer your own private room configuration, please get in touch with us to check availability and calculate the single-supplement pricing for your dates.
Are trekking poles necessary for this specific trail?
While not mandatory, many walkers find trekking poles incredibly helpful on the Light to Light Walk. They provide excellent stability on the sand sections, rock platforms, and uneven stairs. If you choose to bring them, please ensure they have protective rubber tips to protect the trail infrastructure and stone platforms.
What types of snacks are provided on the trail?
We provide high-energy, wholesome trail snacks each day to keep your momentum going between meals. This typically includes items like local dried fruits, premium nut mixes, energy bars, and sweet treats. If you have highly specific sports nutrition requirements or favorite energy gels, we recommend bringing those along with you.

Kayaking Tours
View Kayaking ToursDo I need prior kayaking experience?
Not at all! Most of our scheduled experiences—including our signature Pambula River Kayaking tours —are perfect for beginners. We use very stable, flat-water sit-on-top kayaks, and our expert guides provide a full safety briefing and paddling demonstration on the shore before we push off. As long as you have a basic level of fitness and are comfortable being on the water, you will do wonderfully!
Do you provide life jackets/safety equipment?
Absolutely. Safety is our number one priority. We provide premium, high-quality life jackets (PFDs), paddles, and all necessary safety gear for all participants on our guided tours. Our life jackets come in a range of sizes to ensure a comfortable and secure fit for everyone, and our expert guides will help you adjust your gear correctly before we hit the water.
What is included in the tour price?
The tour price covers everything you need for a premium day on the water: all high-quality kayaking and safety equipment, an expert local guide, National Park entry fees, and a gourmet local morning tea. There are no hidden extra costs!
What is your cancellation/refund policy?
Please read our Terms and Conditions
I have kids. Is this tour suitable for children?
Absolutely! We love taking families out on the River—it’s a very family-friendly activity. There is so much for kids to learn and see along the river!
For Children Over 3 Years Old: We recommend children under 10 or with little experience share a double kayak with an adult. We provide appropriately sized life jackets.
For Very Young Children: Children under 3 generally sit between an adult’s legs in a double kayak. For the best experience with toddlers, we highly recommend booking a kayak tour expereince by contacting us.
I've never paddled before. Can I still do this tour?
Yes! No prior kayaking experience is necessary. Our guides will provide a quick, fun lesson and you’ll find the skill is very easy to pick up. However, you should be physically active and have good balance. The tour involves a 6km round trip paddle, which does require a moderate level of effort, especially when paddling against the tide in one direction.
What if it's raining?
We can still deliver this experience in light rain, provided we are not expecting a torrential downpour or dangerous conditions. We supply full-body rain gear (rain pants and coats from size small to large) for everyone.
Can I bring my phone on the kayaking tour?
We encourage you to bring your phone to take lots of great photos. We provide small, waterproof dry bags specifically for phones, as well as larger dry bags for personal belongings like towels and a jumper.
Can I bring my dog or other pet?
No, we cannot accommodate dogs or any other pets on this tour due to safety reasons in the kayaks and National Park Regulations, which strictly prohibit pets to protect local wildlife. We can help you find a local pet sitter if needed.
What should I wear/bring with me?
- Wear comfortable clothing that you don’t mind getting a little wet (quick-drying activewear or swimwear is ideal).
- Tops: T-shirt or lightweight long-sleeve for sun protection. In winter, bring a warm layer like wool or fleece.
- Bottoms: Shorts are best, as your legs will get wet up to your knees when launching. Avoid jeans.
- Footwear: Water shoes or old sneakers. We also have reef shoes you can borrow.
- Other items: Hat, sunglasses, reef-safe sunscreen, water bottle, towel, and swimmers if you plan to swim.
I'm not very fit or active, and I don't have good balance. Is this tour suitable for me?
No. This particular tour requires a reasonable level of physical activity and balance due to the distance and tidal flows. If you are concerned, we highly recommend booking a private tour tailored to your pace.
I have special needs or requirements. Can you still cater for me?
We strongly encourage people of all abilities to enjoy kayaking! We have adaptive equipment (stabiliser floats, high-back rests) and guides trained in community care with NDIS experience. However, please contact us before booking. A public tour requires keeping up with a group, so a private tour is often the best option to fully tailor the pace, route, and assistance for you.
As first-time kayakers, Shez had us comfortable on the water in no time, and was such a knowledgable, warm, fun and wonderful host. We couldn't have asked for a better experience out on the beautiful Pambula River.
Mountain Bike & E-Bike Hire
View MTB & E-Bike HireI have children. Are your bikes suitable for kids?
To ensure a safe and comfortable fit, please let us know how tall your children are before booking. We currently have a limited selection of smaller bikes and generally do not cater well for riders under 5ft (152 cm). Additionally, for safety reasons, we do not permit children under 12 to ride our e-bikes. E-bikes are very heavy (almost 30kg each!), making them difficult to manage and potentially dangerous if a child falls.
Do you supply helmets and locks?
Yes, absolutely! Every single bike hire includes a fitted safety helmet and a secure bike lock at no extra cost. Wearing a helmet is a legal requirement in NSW, and locking the bike when left unattended is mandatory under your hire agreement.
Are your e-bikes suitable for mountain biking?
No, our e-bikes are strictly not designed for mountain biking. They are cruiser-style e-bikes intended only for sealed roads, paved bike paths, or smooth fire trails. Please do not take them on single-track mountain bike trails, rough terrain, or beaches, as this can damage the motor and components.
Do I need to book in advance?
Yes, pre-booking is highly recommended. The more notice you can give us, the better! Booking ahead allows us to manage our daily logistics efficiently and ensures we have the correct size and style of bike perfectly set up and reserved for you when you arrive.
What happens if I get a flat tyre or have a mechanical issue while riding?
We meticulously maintain our fleet—so it is very rare and unlikely! However, our support structure depends on where you are hiring:
Eden Hires (Cruise Ship Guests): If you experience an issue, please call our office immediately. We will try to dispatch someone to pick you up and recover the bike. Our recommended cruise ship bike route stays within a 5km radius of the port. In a worst-case scenario, you can easily walk back to the ship. Just leave us a message so we can recover the bike and ensure you don’t miss your departure!
Tathra Hires: For hires out of Tathra, you need to be self-sufficient as we do not provide on-road breakdown assistance. If you do experience a mechanical problem, please call us and we will do our best to bring out a replacement bike as soon as possible. However, please be aware that this is strictly dependent on our staff logistics on the day, as we do not have a dedicated standby staff ready and waiting.
Where do you recommend riding, and do you provide maps?
We want you to have the best experience possible! Upon collection, our team will provide you with a local trail map and share the best route recommendations based on your riding confidence, time frames, and what you’d like to see around the area.
Can I extend my hire time once I am already out riding?
Extensions are subject to bike availability and must be approved before your original return time. Please call us to check if your bike is booked for another group later that day. Please note that unapproved late returns will incur a late fee of $66 per item, per hour (or part thereof).
